Safety & Tools:
Working with log tools Safety: It is of utmost importance and it is mandatory that safety rules be abided by at all times during the course.

Tools: Students will be using tools such as chain saw, adz, scriber, chisels, draw knives, levels and etc. By the end of the course, students will be able to properly scribe and fit log walls, log floor joists and truss members.

Students will be required to purchase a minimal amount of building tools. Most of these can be purchased the first day of class. You will be required to have a chainsaw that is 50cc or more with a "safety" chain brake (anti-Kickback). All of the newer saws have kickback protection. I recommend Stihl or Husqvarna.

You will need proper gas and oil for your chain saw, saw sharpening file, level, chalk line, retractable knife (sheet rock knife), notebook, pencils, camera, 30' tape measure, log scriber, indelible pencil, spray bottle, draw knife, full wrap around chain saw chaps, helmet with eye and ear protection, steel toe boots and leather gloves. Most tools can be shared by friends or couples coming together.
